Coldstream FTO+ NSF/ANSI Certification
Coldstream FTO Plus: NSF/ANSI 42, 53 & P231 Certified Performance Results
🌍 NSF/ANSI standards – what are they?
The NSF/ANSI (National Sanitation Foundation / American National Standards Institute) standards are internationally recognized benchmarks for testing and certifying water filtration systems. They guarantee that the filters have been evaluated by independent laboratories according to very strict protocols.
✅ The three standards applied to the Coldstream FTO Plus filter:
-
🔹 NSF/ANSI 42 – Water aesthetic enhancement
Target: taste, smell, color, chlorine.
Objective: to make water more pleasant to drink. -
🔹 NSF/ANSI 53 – Reduction of contaminants that pose a health risk
Target: heavy metals (lead, arsenic, mercury…), pesticides, VOCs, other chemicals.
Objective: to reduce substances that can impact health. -
🔹 NSF/ANSI P231 – Microbiological Purifier
Target: pathogenic microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, protozoa).
Requirements: bacteria ≥ 99.9999% (6 log) – viruses ≥ 99.99% (4 log) – protozoa/cysts ≥ 99.9% (3 log).
Objective: to make water potable even from dubious sources (rivers, wells, lakes).
💧 In summary:
- NSF 42 = improves taste and removes chlorine.
- NSF 53 = eliminates hazardous pollutants (chemicals, heavy metals).
- NSF P231 = protects against bacteria and viruses, for truly safe water.
👉 Combined, these standards make the Coldstream FTO Plus a complete purifier, suitable for everyday use as well as emergency situations.
